What Day Is It?
"What day is it?"
Don't you love that question? Doesn't it remind you of being a kid, deep into summer without a clue as to the day, or even the month?
Little MJ just asked me what day it is. And now he's wandering around, mumbling about doing something fun. Am I supposed to produce "something fun?" As recall, the best part of summer vacation was finding something fun to do. Long, hot days of running around the neighborhood, searching for adventure, playing paper dolls, snarfing candy, going to the pool... Such good times. No child should be deprived of making those memories.
Speaking of Little MJ, he has placed his order for his birthday dinner. No matter that his birthday isn't until August 18, it's never too early to place your order. The menu (so far): Mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, macaroni & cheese, spaghetti & meatsauce, cherry jello, corn, microwave bacon, and a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. Mmmmmmmmmmm! Sounds yummy! Especially if you're craving a few carbs.
And now Kathleen has appeared. Clearly, she is appreciating the laziness of summer. That's her nature. She just said, "It's a glorious day! I don't have to babysit, or go to any parties." Now that's a girl that can appreciate a fine summer vacation.

On a completely different note, I have decided that my favorite food is ciabatta bread with extra virgin olive oil. The olive oil has to have sea salt and cracked pepper. Sometimes a little fresh basil and tomato can be added, but it's not completely necessary. Yes. This is my favorite food in the entire world.

Mmmmmm....carbs and bacon. Can I come over?
You make a damned fine bread w/ oil.
Alex would love that meal because it has two (2) forms of potato in it. Alex is the only person I have ever known to take two different potato side items as his choices at a restaurant.
My sister was driven nuts when her girls would complain over the summer, "I'm boooored," like she was expected to entertain them 24/7. So, she fixed it by doing things like handing them the vacuum or the broom and then listing off what cleaning tasks they could then do "since you can't find anything better to do." It worked. They stopped complaining.
